Project
Develop a PLC application and an HMI interface for control of a batch glass melting agent manufacturing process.

Implementation
The Siemens S7 PLC is configured to control the simultaneous weighing of the three row ingredients used in the manufacture of a glass melting agent into individual weigh bins. This is accomplished through speed control of dedicated screw feeders. After all of the ingredients are weighed out, they are dumped into a ribbon blender according to a sequence designed to prevent premature compaction. The system also controlled a scrubber differential pressure during blending and hydration of the ingredients. A WinCC HMI was configured to provide control of the devices for the pilot plant system.

Status

This pilot plant system was started up successfully and has been in operation for over one month. ACE is being considered as the integrator for the scale up of this system to full production.
