Flexible Batch Management

Multi-Platform Batch Management

Applied Control Engineering, Inc. (ACE) first began working with Siemens Moore ProcessSuite Batch and SSE Direktor in the late 1990s. Today our project experience includes flexible batch management software from GE Intelligent Platforms (Proficy Batch Execution, formerly iBatch), Rockwell Automation (FactoryTalk Batch, formerly RSBatch) and Invensys (Wonderware InBatch).

Many of our customers have chosen to mix and match between PLC and batch management software venders. To date, ACE has successfully interfaced GE batch products with Rockwell controllers, and Wonderware’s InBatch with Allen-Bradley, GE, and Siemens (TI and APACS) controllers.

We have implemented multi-platform batch controls for a range of process applications including vaccine production, fermentation, toothpaste production and a mixture of chemical manufacturing processes.

Single Platform (DCS) Batch Management

ACE is also experienced with the batch products associated with DCS systems. We have experience with ABB Bailey Controls’ Batch 90, Emerson Process Management’s DeltaV Batch, and Honeywell’s TotalPlant Batch and Experion Batch Manager. Process applications include distillation, extrusion, drying, reaction, centrifugation and filtration across a wide spectrum of industries. Industries served include chemicals, food & beverage, plastics, pharmaceuticals, and an electronics-grade metals producer.

Custom Batch Solutions

Not every batch application requires a separate flexible batch management software component. In many cases, ACE will provide a custom batch solution to implement typical batch control functions, such as batch number tracking, phase control, and/or recipes without the need for batch management software. Our experience programming custom batch solutions spans most major PLC and DCS vendors, including ABB, Emerson Process Management (DeltaV), GE Intelligent Platforms, Honeywell, Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric (Modicon) and Siemens.
